Homemade Lasagna

I am a big Italian food lover - pasta, tomatoes, and all those yummy spices. A few nights ago Devin made lasagna for dinner. I usually buy Stouffer's because of convenience, but homemade just taste so much better than any store bought.

What You'll Need:

1 16oz box lasagna noodles
1 pound ground beef
2 15oz cans of tomato sauce (I use Muir Glen because it's organic)
1 16oz container of ricotta cheese
1 large egg
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
2 tablespoon italian seasoning (season to taste)
1 teaspoon dried basil (or fresh if you want)

*We also added a can of diced tomatoes (drained) for some extra tomato flavor!

Directions:

1. Cook your lasagna noodles, drain and rinse. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef until crumbly. Drain any excess grease. Stir in your tomato sauce and italian seasoning.

3. In a bowl, combine ricotta and egg. Spread 1/4 of meat sauce on the bottom of a greased casserole dish. Arrange noodles over sauce, overlapping them slightly until sauce is mostly covered.

4. Spread 1/3 of ricotta cheese on top of noodles and sprinkle with 1/3 mozzarella cheese and a tablespoon of parmesan cheese.

5. Repeat layering with meat, noodles and cheeses, making sure to lay the noodles going into a different direction for easier cutting after baking.

6. Bake for about 45 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes, then sprinkle basil over the top for extra flavor.

Let me know how you like it. It is now a favorite here!
